According to the tracking info, the US custom processing took exactly 1 minute as soon as they got the missing info from me. My advice is to call UPS International (they are there 24/7 for ya) in advance and ask what information, if any, they need, to avoid such a delay, as soon as you have a tracking number and the package is scanned. Also, UPS needed either an SSN or FTIN, and this delayed my delivery by one day. This applies only if the cost of your order exceeds some amount, $1200, IIRC, but call UPS and check, don't trust me on that. All you have to pay is a fixed brokerage fee to UPS, who is your "hired customs import broker" under the US law, which came up to the fixed $39 payable by a check to the delivery driver. For the fellow US folk, don't worry about customs tax as long as you order a complete computer: it's exactly 0.00% for those originated in the UK. The total came to $4K including UPS shipping, a pretty reasonable for a high-end workstation for my work (12th gen best i7 CPU, 128MB RAM, 1TB very very fast + 2TB very fast storage + 3070 NVIDIA GPU, as I'm developing CUDA code for computation). I ordered a full PC box without a monitor, keyboard or cables-these are widely available locally. Despite the seemingly high shipping cost, it came well on par with what the US builders offer, who rarely carry these brands. I've always built my workstation-class PCs by myself, both for work and home use (I buy notebooks and general use small desktops ready-made or customized from my long-time fav major US maker, but their workstation-class PCs are too noisy for my quiet home office), but I've been too overloaded with work to find and match parts, especially given that supplies were scarce due to COVID, and the most quiet and reliable components that I never compromise on-Noctua coolers and be quiet! cases-are made on the wrong shore of the pond. I am in the US, but have never had a good experience with local PC builders. I ordered a custom-built workstation for serious computation work from Quiet PC. Amazingly pleasant experience with a custom-ordered, high-end workstation delivered to the US!
